Private journal

A private journal that only you can read

Dayline encrypts your entries on your device before they sync, with keys we don’t have. You write a line, or say it, whenever something happens, and Dayline turns the day into a short journal page with your moods.

For example: long day, felt low after the meeting, better after a walk

How it works

  1. Write a lineNo blank page to fill: a line whenever something happens, in English or Hinglish, typed or spoken.
  2. It stays lockedEach entry is encrypted on your device before it syncs to your other devices. We store only locked data.
  3. Read your days backMoods become a line through the day and a row across the week, and each day becomes a short page.

What end-to-end encrypted means here

Encrypted on your device before they sync. We, Cloudflare and anyone with a database copy or backup see only locked data. We don’t have the keys.

Not every journal or memory app works this way: some keep your text readable on their servers. Dayline’s storage is end-to-end encrypted: you unlock it with a passkey (your fingerprint or screen lock) on your own devices.

The AI, honestly

With Standard AI, an AI reads your words but doesn’t keep them. If you’d rather no AI read anything, choose On-device only in Settings › Privacy & security: Dayline’s built-in rules read your entries instead. Exactly what the AI sees.

The limit we can’t encrypt away

On the web, your browser downloads Dayline’s code from us each visit. “We can’t read it” holds as long as that code is honest. Today that rests on trust in us. Each release’s file hashes are listed at /verify, so you can check that the files you got match that release; we plan to publish the source so others can check what the code does, and we haven’t yet.

Keep your recovery key. Lose all your devices and your recovery key, and your diary is gone for good. About the recovery key.

The Journal screen: a mood line through the day, a row of moods for the week, and the day’s story.

Free for everyone during the beta. Not available in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland yet.
