The plain summary

1. Who we are and this agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Sahil Singh, an individual in India who runs Dayline ("we", "us"), about the Dayline app and website at dayline.online and the Dayline Android app (the "service"). Our contact details are in section 13. You accept these terms by ticking "I accept the Terms" on the sign-in screen before you create an account; we record which version of the terms you accepted and the day. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy: accepting these terms is not consent to any use of your data, and the choices the policy describes (such as the AI mode, which you choose separately when you set up Dayline, and usage counts) stay yours to change at any time. If you don't accept these terms, don't use Dayline.

You must be 18 or over to use Dayline: the sign-in screen asks you to confirm it before an account is created. Dayline is for your personal use, not for a business.

Where Dayline is available. Dayline is not offered in the European Union, the other EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the United Kingdom or Switzerland. New accounts can't be created from those countries (we go by the country Cloudflare's network places your connection in, which we don't store). If you already have an account, it keeps working when you travel.

2. What Dayline is

Dayline turns what you type or say into a structured log on your devices: entries, money, health, people, places, plans and day stories. Entries are encrypted on your device before they sync between your devices through our servers. Optional AI features interpret your messages; how and where that happens depends on the AI mode you choose, as the Privacy Policy explains.

Dayline is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Totals, summaries and stories are only as accurate as what was logged and how it was interpreted. Don't rely on them for decisions that need professional advice, and in an emergency contact your local emergency services.

Beta. Dayline is in beta. Features may change, have bugs, or be removed while we learn what works. During the beta, accounts may get Plus features for free until an end date that the app shows; we tell you in the app 14 days and 3 days before it. After that date such an account moves to Free unless you subscribe, and nothing you logged is deleted. We take payments only once paid plans are switched on; the plan screen says whether they are.

Subscribing during the beta (early supporters). While the beta lasts, everyone gets Plus features for free, and you may still subscribe to Plus, monthly or yearly, to support Dayline. It is a paid plan like any other: you pay the price shown before you pay, it renews automatically until you cancel, and section 6 and the Refund & Cancellation Policy apply to it in full. During the beta it doesn't unlock extra features (your AI allowance is Plus's own where that is more than the beta's). In return:

3. Your account and your keys

4. Your content

5. AI features

6. Plans, payment, renewal and cancellation

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Dayline to break the law, or to:

We may limit or suspend an account that does these things. Because your data is encrypted, we act on what we can see (for example request rates or payment fraud), not on your content.

8. The service, changes and availability

9. Inactive accounts

If you don't sign in with Google for 12 months, we delete your account and everything stored in it, and we can't restore it. We email you 30 days before; we don't delete an account we couldn't warn.

10. Ending this agreement

11. Our responsibility to you

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at New Delhi, India have jurisdiction, but if you live elsewhere you can also bring a claim in your own country and keep the protection of its mandatory consumer laws. In India you can also go to the Consumer Commission where you live or work, under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 (including online through e-Daakhil) or call the National Consumer Helpline (1915). These terms have no arbitration clause and no waiver of class or group claims. Please write to us first: most problems can be solved quickly.

13. Grievances and contact

Grievance officer: Sahil Singh, privacy@dayline.online, C3/385, 3rd Floor, Janakpuri, New Delhi 110058, India. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within one month of receiving them. General support: support@dayline.online. Privacy questions and requests: privacy@dayline.online.

Seller of paid plans: Sahil Singh, an individual, at the address above. GST: not registered. Customer care for plans, payments and refunds: support@dayline.online, phone [phone]; we reply within 2 working days.

14. Changes to these terms

We'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then; if you do that during a period you've paid for, we refund the unused part. Continuing to use Dayline after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
