# Dayline > Dayline is a life log for people in India. You type or say one line, in English or Hinglish (for example "spent 240 on uber, then dal rice for lunch, feeling good"), and it logs expenses against a monthly budget with a daily pace, meals with calories, mood, tasks and reminders, then writes the day as a short journal page. Entries are end-to-end encrypted on the user's device before they sync. Free for everyone during the beta. Know where your UPI money went without typing into five apps. One line logs spends against a monthly budget, meals with calories, mood, tasks and reminders. Encrypted on your device. Free during the beta. Dayline is a web app at https://dayline.online/ that installs on Android from Chrome (https://dayline.online/help/install-on-android). Sign-in is with Google; Google only proves who you are and can't open the diary. For people 18 and over. Not available in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland yet. It doesn't read SMS or connect to banks or UPI apps: users tell it what they spent (https://dayline.online/help/does-dayline-read-my-sms). ## What it does - One command bar: a line of plain text (or up to two minutes of voice) becomes the right entries; the user checks them before anything is saved. - Money: each spend lands in a category, against a monthly budget (the budget month can start on payday), with a daily pace = what's left this month over the days left, including today. Today, week and month views, search, CSV export. - Meals: logged from plain words; calories are the user's figure or an AI estimate, marked as an estimate. - Mood: moods mentioned become a line through the day and a row across the week. - Tasks and reminders: due dates and times come from the line; push notifications with Done and Snooze, also when the app is closed. - Journal: at night the day becomes a short page. The built-in story is written on the device; AI-written stories are optional and off until turned on. ## Privacy model (quoted from the app's privacy ledger) - What you store (Guaranteed by encryption): Encrypted on your device before they sync. We, Cloudflare and anyone with a database copy or backup see only locked data. We don’t have the keys. - AI in Standard mode (Promised by policy): To understand a message, the AI has to read it. Your message and about a page of related context pass through our server to Cloudflare’s AI. If it needs more to get a message right, the AI can look things up in your history for that message: for example a whole earlier day with its spending, up to 20 matching entries from any dates, up to 15 expenses from a date range, or what Dayline knows about a person or place, over up to 5 AI calls. All of it is used for that request and discarded. AI day stories, if you turn them on, send the whole day’s log (with the day’s mood estimate, worked out on your device, if no mood was logged). AI week and month reviews, which you ask for on the Review screen when AI stories are on, send only that period’s totals and counts (money by category with the top merchants, mood, health, and habits with your repeating tasks’ names), the names of the people and places that came up most, and each day’s title and wins (which can name a person, a meal, a task or a plan), all worked out on your device: never the entries themselves. We don’t log or store any of it, and Cloudflare’s terms say it doesn’t train on it. This is a promise, not encryption. You choose Standard AI or On-device only when you set up Dayline (nothing is pre-selected), and can change it any time; until a device has recorded Standard AI on its sign-in, our server refuses its AI requests. - AI in On-device only mode (By construction): Nothing leaves your device for an AI model: entries are read by Dayline’s built-in rules instead. The mode applies to your whole vault, so your other devices (and ones you add later) follow it too. Entries still sync encrypted. If you switch back to Standard later, entries you logged in this mode can be read as context for new messages. - The web code (Trust in our code): On the web, your browser downloads Dayline’s code from us each visit. “We can’t read it” holds as long as that code is honest. Today that rests on trust in us. Each release’s file hashes are listed at /verify, so you can check that the files you got match that release; we plan to publish the source so others can check what the code does, and we haven’t yet. - Account data: the email address is stored encrypted under Dayline's own key (a policy protection, not end-to-end), plus account metadata and usage counts. No IP addresses are stored. No ads, trackers or analytics SDKs. - Lose all your devices and your recovery key, and your diary is gone for good. ## Pricing - Free beta (now): everyone, ₹0, 900 AI messages a month, 120 voice minutes a month. No card, no trial. - Plus, optional early support: ₹349 a month or ₹3,299 a year (Indian rupees, no GST added). It doesn't unlock extra features during the beta; it locks the price and keeps Plus when the beta ends. In Standard AI mode the AI reads each message to log it and doesn’t keep it; On-device only mode keeps AI out. - [Does the AI read my entries?](https://dayline.online/help/does-the-ai-read-my-entries): In Standard mode, yes: the AI reads each message, and about a page of related context, to log it; then it is discarded. Choose On-device only and nothing goes to an AI model. - [Does Dayline read my SMS or connect to my bank?](https://dayline.online/help/does-dayline-read-my-sms): No. Dayline doesn’t read your SMS or connect to your bank, UPI app or cards. You log a spend by typing one line, saying it, or sharing a payment message into Dayline. - [Is it free?](https://dayline.online/help/is-dayline-free): Yes. Dayline is free for everyone during the beta, with 900 AI messages a month. Subscribing to Plus early is optional and doesn’t unlock extra features yet. - [How do I install it on Android?](https://dayline.online/help/install-on-android): Open dayline.online in Chrome, sign in with Google, then tap Chrome’s menu (⋮) › Install app. Dayline opens in its own window with its own icon, and updates arrive by themselves. - [Can I speak instead of typing?](https://dayline.online/help/speak-instead-of-typing): Yes. Tap the mic and talk for up to two minutes, in English or Hinglish. Dayline writes it down and puts it in the box for you to check; nothing is saved until you send it. - [What is the recovery key, and why does it matter?](https://dayline.online/help/recovery-key): It’s the backup key to your encrypted diary. Save it somewhere safe: if you lose every device and the recovery key, nobody, including us, can get your entries back. - [Can I export or delete my data?](https://dayline.online/help/export-or-delete-your-data): Yes, any time, in Settings › Privacy & security › Your data: download a locked archive or a readable copy. Delete account erases your locked data, key wraps and account right away. - [Do you track what I do in the app?](https://dayline.online/help/does-dayline-track-me): Not as you. Your devices send counts of what happens in the app, without your account, a device id or your entries, and you can turn them off. - [I used Dayline in the beta. Is my account still there?](https://dayline.online/help/beta-accounts): Yes. Sign in with Google using the same email address you used in the beta: it’s the same account and the same encrypted vault. ## Guides - [Know where your UPI money went](https://dayline.online/guides/track-upi-spending): Log UPI payments the way you’d text a friend: “240 uber on UPI”. Dayline files the amount, merchant and category against your monthly budget. - [A monthly budget with a daily pace](https://dayline.online/guides/monthly-budget-daily-pace): Set one monthly budget, even one that starts on payday. Dayline shows what’s left and a daily pace: what you can spend today and still end on budget. - [Log meals and calories in Hinglish](https://dayline.online/guides/calorie-log-hinglish): Type “do roti aur dal, lunch mein” and Dayline logs the meal with a calorie estimate, marked as an estimate. Give your own number if you know it. - [An expense tracker that reads like a diary](https://dayline.online/guides/expense-tracker-diary): Dayline turns the day’s spends, meals and moods into a short journal page, so your money has context: what you bought, who with, how the day felt. - [A private journal that only you can read](https://dayline.online/guides/private-journal-app): Dayline is a journal and life log whose entries are end-to-end encrypted on your device. Write or say a line; the day becomes a page only you can read. - [Tasks and reminders from one line](https://dayline.online/guides/reminders-from-one-line): Type “remind me to call mom at 7” and Dayline sets a reminder that reaches your phone with Done and Snooze. Tasks get due dates from what you write. ## Optional - [Full text of every help and guide page](https://dayline.online/llms-full.txt) - [Terms of Service](https://dayline.online/terms) - [Refund & Cancellation Policy](https://dayline.online/refunds) - [Verify this release](https://dayline.online/verify): file hashes of the running release - Contact: support@dayline.online
